Denver Broncos – The Team

The Denver Broncos were established in 1960, joining the NFL in 1970 when the two leagues merged. To date, they have six AFC Championships and two Super Bowls to their credit. The team also has ten Division Championships and has made a total of seventeen appearances in the playoffs.

The home of the Denver Broncos is Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium. The stadium is a multipurpose arena that opened in 2001 at a cost of nearly 365 million dollars. Replacing the old and obsolete stadium Mile High, the new stadium seats 76,125 fans for football games.

Invesco, an investment management agency, paid 120 million dollars for naming rights, causing opposition from both fans and the media, who wanted to keep the original name intact. At first, some members of the media did refuse to use the name, leaving out the “Invesco” in reports, but eventually they gave in.

Off the field, the Denver Broncos are active in various parts of their community. They help fight hunger in the community, and participate in events and programs to advance research for cancer as well as other diseases. Perhaps the most active part of the team’s community efforts is their work with the area youth. From the Denver Broncos Boys and Girls Club, to the reading programs, the team supports and encourages the disadvantaged youth in the area, giving them hope for a better future, and teaching them to appreciate their education.

The Denver Broncos have fielded some of the most famous players in football. John Elway, considered by many as one of the most successful quarterbacks in history, played the majority of his professional career with the team, and is now behind the scenes, working in “football operations” for the team. Newcomer Tim Tebow is also a Bronco, having just finished his rookie year with the team. Other greats include Floyd Little, Lionel Taylor, Terrell Davis, and many more.

When it comes to football rivalries, the Broncos may not have the most heated of them, but they do have their own share. The team first met with several other teams in 1960, including the Chiefs, Raiders, Chargers, and the Patriots. Each of these teams enjoys a rivalry with the Broncos, and while they are heated, they have not reached the level of some others, remaining civil if not friendly with each other.

The Denver Broncos fame extends far outside the boundaries of Colorado. With fans all over the country, the team has some of the most loyal supporters there are. The players’ dedication and energy on the field, combined with their caring and tireless efforts in the community, have earned them the love of many, and the respect of many more.
