Colts have won eight of last nine meetings
The Indianapolis Colts may be a six-point road underdog but history is on their side. There is one simple way to stop the Colts…stop Andrew Luck, who had four touchdowns in week one of the season.
Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips looks to do just that with both DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller expected to get after Luck. If the pass rush can force Luck into mistakes, then the Broncos should walk away with the win against the Colts, who lost 39-35 despite a four TD game from Luck.
Chuck Pagano will have his squad ready.
“All 11 guys over there [concern me] and the guys they bring in, the backups that they have,” Pagano said Wednesday. “They’ve got a great front seven. We know that they can put a tremendous amount of pressure on your quarterback. We’ve got to do a great job in protection. They’re stingy against the run. The back end, the second level and the third level, they’ve got speed, athleticism and they’re very, very deep. Excellent on the outside at the two corner spots and the nickel spot. They fly around and they’re physical. They do a great job. Wade [Phillips] does a great job with that group. It’s by no chance that they’re ranked where they are and where they finished last year. They can hurt you in a lot of different ways from all levels so we have to be on point.”
The match up will be the first between the two teams in 23 years that there was not a player named Peyton Manning on either roster.

Trevor Siemian will get the start
When veteran quarterback Mark Sanchez arrived via a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles, the starting job was pretty much his to lose. After the Broncos drafted Paxton Lynch in the first round, he must have felt even more ready to lead the Orange and Blue on the field.
But it is the 23 year old Trevor Siemian who will get the start this weekend. Through two preseason games, Siemian has gone 17/26 for 163 yards, zero touchdowns and one interception. By contrast, Sanchez has three turnovers in a little over two quarters of play.
“No excuse for that poor, poor quarterback play, Sanchez said. “It’s difficult playing like crap on two plays and ruining an opportunity. That’s difficult.”
“They are all going to play an equal amount,” Head Coach Gary Kubiak said. “I have to sit here and think about how much I’m going to play the starters, so that’ll have a lot to do with how I play them. I’m going to see how much I’m going to play our starters in the game. I’ll make that decision later in the week.”
Tickets for Saturdays game against the LA Rams are still available as are all preseason and regular season games so be sure to grab yours today and help cheer on your Denver Broncos this weekend!
Von Miller was at a publicity event recently and told the gathered crowd that he was not going anywhere.
“I’m going to be here in Denver no matter what,” Miller said, per The Denver Post. “The contract is going to take care of itself. I’m going to be a Denver Bronco for life.”
And while Miller is confident the contract “will work itself out,” other concerns are beginning to come to light, namely who is going to lead the Broncos into the 2016 season at quarterback, especially after Brock Osweiler bolted for the Houston Texans.
That left beleaguered quarterback Mark Sanchez which prompted the Broncos to select Paxton Lynch in the first round of the 2016 Draft. Lynch has been described as the prototypical quarterback, great size at 6-7 and above average mobility.
“I like the idea of going up to get the franchise passer. John Elway likes big passers and he has another one. Grade: B+,” Pete Prisco-CBS Sports.
Whoever starts at quarterback, the preseason kicks off on Thursday August 11th against the Chicago Bears on the road. The home preseason opener follows with a game against the San Francisco 49er’s. Tickets for that game and all preseason as well as regular season games are already available so be sure to stake out your game today!
